Conceptual Idea:
"The sense of space is created using light. The number of people entering and leaving a room directly correlates to the floor area which is lit up. As more people enter the room the lit floor area increases. As more of the floor area lights up the concept of a larger space is created."
Strengths:
The idea is innovative. It's indicate that ever changing in tune with the amount of people that are in the room is rather than having a fixed amount of light for a defined space. There is no need for a switch to be flicked as one enters the room and then. There is also the possibility that as more people enter the room the brightness of the light will give a sense or a larger space, avoiding the potential concern to leave a room due to overcrowding or feeling enclosed.
Weaknesses:
Depending on how the room is constructed, a room could be too dull(if there is nowt enough people in the room to light it up) or it could be too blinding(if there are too many people in the room). To solve this there would need to be a minimum and maximum limit for the light strength produced in the room.
Opportunities:
Replace single light fittings into chandelier style fitting, perhaps, where you have many bulbs thus increasing the amount of light into the room. Further create a sense of space by using neutral or light colours - this property design obviously expands the space, whereas dark colours will make it feel a lot smaller. Quite a few design tips there to help you make the space that you do have feel bigger. It may be that you want to knock a wall through and combine two rooms together, such as a separate toilet and bathroom.
Threats:
Lighting is also an important creative element of composition. By controlling the light and directing it where you want it, you can subdue objects or distracting elements in the scene to give more emphasis to the main point of interest.
For good picture composition, you must develop an awareness of how changes in lighting can affect the appearance of things around you. Light and shadows can be used in composition to create mood, to draw attention to an area, to modify or distort shape, or to bring out form and texture in the subject.
